About

Mission

The American Design Awards was founded in the year 2000 by design educator Brandon McKay, as well as graphic design professionals Kevin and Art Javid in San Diego, California. Their mission - to provide a fair and ethical platform for graphic and web designers with varying experience levels and disciplines to compete on, while providing them a global audience to showcase their talents to.

The concept of ethical design practices is the cornerstone on which the American Design Awards was founded on; a set of guidelines which every graphic and web designer is encouraged to uphold and abide by, for the greater good of the industry. For a detailed list of unethical design practices, click here.

One way to encourage such behavior is by awarding those who have made graphic or web design their careers and uphold such ethical guidelines on a day to day basis. Other considerations for an award of course are creativity and talent, marketability and effectiveness, as well as practicality and general design abilities.

The American Design Awards holds two (2) Semi-Annual Design Contests, an ongoing Monthly Design Contest, and a Student Design Contest, providing various avenues for graphic and web designers to get involved and get noticed.
